A turn of events!

Perhaps walking out of class was the right thing to do. Today both the 5th and 6th grades were very attentive. It was actually possible to do some teaching. The teachers are now staying in the class room with me. That not only helps student behavior but it gives the teachers a non-threatening way to practice their English.

Good on you Al seems sometimes you have to be tough on kids especially the older ones, I feel for you behavior management would be difficult when you're not fluent in the language. I write their names on the board if they're not listening etc and they have to stay in at lunch for 5 mins i let them 'work' it off by being good- mostly they do. Not sure if that would work. Maybe the teachers could explain but sounds like you've got it under control - seems you never stop learning when teaching. Liz

For you as behavior management would be difficult when you're not fluent in the language. I write their names on the board and they have to stay in at lunch for 5-10 mins if they're good I rub their name off and they usually are as they hate missing lunch - not sure if that would work for you there but it sounds like you have it under control. Am enjoying my theology course but not looking forward to writing essays again, take care Liz
