Sounds of the Morning

It's not light yet as the chanting from the temple mixes with the Muslim call to prayer wafting from the Mosque.  Peeyouw, peeyouw, peeyouw sounds a bird in the trees which combines with the distant hum of motorbikes.  Dog's bark in the distance. The lizard says "tokay, tokay" unlike the silent geckos dashing about the walls. But, it's the multitude of roosters crowing that convince me it's time to get out of bed.  Ah, the proud rooster, the most reliable alarm clock ever. How do they know the time without even any hint of a dawn sky?
It's well that the temple doesn't do early morning funerals.  When they sound the funeral gong to speed the departed on their way it sounds like a heavy caliber gun shot.
