4/2/2019 Caring Bridge

Journal entry by Al Negstad — a minute ago
Last year Joanne's birthday and Easter Sunday coincided.  Grace University Lutheran sang 'Happy Birthday' to Joanne during Easter Services.  It's when she saw the video of the congregation singing to her that she said "I never knew dying could be so glorious." Easter/birthday dinner was the last meal she ate at the table and she sat there for about 2, hours.
Yesterday's presence of absence in the land of grief remembering her on her birthday was made bearable by a massive outpouring of support.  There were cards, emails, telephone calls, text messages and myriad Facebook posts. For the first time in my life I was the singular recipient of a bouquet of flowers!   We would tease Joanne about her 200, closest friends but I'm beginning to think I may be in the same category, thanks to her.
Perhaps my new found equilibrium put me in a place to absorb the energy that came my way.  What else can I do but say 'thank you!'

Blessings,

Al

I've always liked this candid picture of her sitting at the kitchen table in our in Golden Valley house. The Christmas pictures on glass door gives a clue about the time of year.
