Journal entry by Al Negstad — a minute ago
It was a dutiful trip I made to the LSS Philanthropy Luncheon today. As was mentioned last night, the notice that Joanne would be honored pried me lose. Joanne was given a nice acknowledgment during the program and that alone was worth the effort that went into my attendance. It is important to me that Joanne and her contributions not quickly be forgotten.
Joanne is still being entertained by my presence at the luncheon because, even beyond the recognition accorded her, I enjoyed the event. Who would have guessed? There were people present who were important in my past that I had not seen for a long time. Others, whom I see from time to time, but I always enjoy. Then there were others I met for the first time and with whom I enjoyed conversation.
Ya, ya...too late smart!
As I write this at 8:00 pm it is snowing and has been since noon. Perhaps there is a message in the snow. Joanne died Thursday, April 12, 2018 and on Saturday, April 14, there was a blizzard. I remember it well because I was alone all day. Now on April 10, 2019, it is snowing again and may do so into tomorrow. That snowy Saturday was one of the my most difficult days. Reflecting on that day and comparing it to how I feel today gives me a measure of my recovery.
Blessings,
Al
