4/13/2019 Caring Bridge

Journal entry by Al Negstad — a minute ago
Yesterday was such a high that I continue to coast on it today.  As I told T, who sang in the Bach B Minor Mass last night, "Bach isn't all bad."  When I used to say that to Joanne she would just roll her eyes.  Some of said that the B Minor Mass is the best music ever written.  That's way beyond my level of expertise bu I liked it and Joanne would have loved it.
Long time friend, Paul Lundborg, spoke at the Swedish Institute this afternoon about his ancestors who died in the 1862 US/Dakota war.  He wrote a book, Death Of A Dream: One Family's Experience of the 1862 US/Dakota War which tells the story.  It is a fascinating story and well told, several of his family died.
A bonus of attending the event was seeing many mutual friends that Lundborg and I share.  These friends all knew Joanne.  One of them told of hearing her father Rev. Oscar C. Hanson preach before he met Joanne.  Oscar died in 1975 so meeting people who remember him happens less frequently now.
L just truned 50, so there was a big birthday party for him.  A chip of Joanne's block?...85 of his closest friends showed up to help him celebrate.  She would have loved both the Lundborg event and the birthday party.  We were neighbors of the Lundborgs for several years and have many stories for the times we shared; they in Berthold, and we in Mohall, both North Dakota.

Blessings,

Al
