7/4/2019 Caring Bridge

Journal entry by Al Negstad — 28 minutes ago
The 4th of July celebration sponsored by Sinai Lutheran Church stretches back father than any living person can remember.  Today's speakers were a young couple who recently made a mission trip to Haiti.  It was a very good presentation and the worship screen was used effectively to present pictures; all well organized and explained.
This 4th tradition also acts as a homecoming with expats returning, giving opportunity to connect both with those who have remained here and others who come back for the day.  When the 4th falls mid-week attendance is less, yet, attending gave me the opportunity to visit with several I hadn't seen for awhile.
There are many others who live in the land of grief, obviously it's not only me.   Kathy was present and we had a good visit.  Within the last five years her father died, her son was murdered, then her husband died and recently also did her mother.  While her parents were elderly it is still hard when they die.  The death of her son?  words fail! and the death of a spouse...I know something of that.  But this is a case where the whole is more than the sum of all the parts.  Yet she carries on but, knowing that grief touches grief, I imagine it is not easy.

Takk for alt,

Al

Pictures: Evy and Sella, two reasons I'm not lonely.  Corn on the 3rd of July...knee high sometime.😀
