Journal entry by Joanne Negstad — Jun 4, 2018
Having many friends has always been a blessing, but doubly so now! Much of a good marriage is the deep friendship between spouses. With Joanne's death, I lost the great gift of her friendship. Therefore, it is no wonder that friends (including those labeled family) are significantly more important now. In conversation with a long time friend today, I expressed how keenly I'm aware of the significance of friendship in my bereavement. Astute as always he said, "that makes perfect sense."
In this community of bereavement, as we bear absence, we all share the loss of her friendship. She really was a unique friend to us all. We are in this together, and as I said last night, that gives me hope. You, and others like you, are the bearers of hope in my life.
Blessings,
