Slightly over fifty years ago we were Godparents at niece Barbara's, baptism. For over fifty years Joanne sent Barbara a card on the anniversary of her baprism, which was yesterday. It seemed right that I should continue the practice of remembering Barbara's baptism, so I called her. She told me that because Joanne sent a card every year she, Barbara, is one of the few adults she knows who know their date of baptism. Joanne's action speaks for itself about who Joanne was.
Today, as every day there were variations between being aware of absence and being acutely aware of absence. Likely that will be my reality, though I expect the balance between the two will shift.
