Leaving Portaria we headed for a winery at Tyrnavos named Ktima Zafeirakis, which produces organic wines. The winery being off the beaten path is not easy to find. The proprietor of the vineyard recommended we stop at the Shell station and he lead us from there. Over Anna's objections, the driver thought he knew how to find it so we passed Shell.
We made a long circuit on a one-lane road much to narrow to turn a bus. Finding no winery we began the circuit again and half way around were blocked by a stalled tractor in the road with no room to pass. The driver and other guys on the bus all pitched in to start the dead tractor. But they had no success. Because it was a Fiat, with which I have no experience, I stayed on the bus. Had it been a Farmall...
The vinter had comeso looking for us found us trapped. He took the tractor driver to the driver's home who then brought another tractor to tow the dead one. While the tractor owner pulled the bus driver steered the stalled one down the road and out of the way.
While all this was going on I found the location of the winery via my GPS, less than a mile away. With the tractor out of the way we were led to the winery which we'd passed twice as we circled. Another man who will not ask direction, right? But, a story opportunity.
Takk for alt,
Al
PS If it were I, with a stalled tractor I would call the bank. 😂
The stalled Fiat tractor, wagon in tow.The rescue tractor.
