Journal entry by Al Negstad — a minute ago
It's about 36 hours until I leave for Asia. Preparations have been jerky, swinging from anxiety about too little time to, 'there's too much time.' It has always been my task to prepare and I keep a list from one year to the next which makes organizing much easier. Yet, this year I've been more unsettled and I think it's the presence of absence that has me uneasy.
Assumptions are tricky, but mine was that this departure would be easy, not having to say goodbye to Joanne. Now finding it more difficult throws me off stride, causing me to reflect on the difference. It also raises wonder about what to expect when I'm in Asia? Whee I'm going is very familiar with significant personal relationships. How will it be different? Obviously I won't be calling and emailing Joanne, but beyond that, what to expect? Whatever it is I hope I can be open to it and continue to learn. Likely my blogging will be different with more reflection on immediate experiences.
Well, stay tuned as I ride the roller coaster of feelings in the land of grief. But. let me say again how much the support of family and friends mean in this journey. Thank you all!
Blessings,
Al
