Joanne's last years were a struggle medically and physically. This did not dim her extrovert nature or needs. Connecting with friends over lunch was very important to her even as her strength waned. She learned to take advantage of our condo's access to the Skyway. There are four restaurants, open at noon, on the Skyway level in our building. Her pattern was to take her guests to one of those establishments for 'take-out'. Then she would bring them up to our condo to share the meal. It was perfect...she got to host and visit without the pressure of food prep.
Taking a page from her book today I entertained long time friends, since 1969, as Joanne had modeled. While I have the energy to entertain my culinary skills are questionable. It was a delightful visit and in a style I'll likely repeat. Thanks,Joanne! 😚
