Journal entry by Joanne Negstad — Oct 12, 2018
With a fire crackling in the background, dessert and coffee at the coffee table, candles lighted, conversation with dear friends; this is Norway as Joanne knew and loved it. So sorry that she's not here, but Ellen and Berger remember her fondly, and that is comforting. This is a classic Norwegian house, painted red, built in the '50s, more wood than sheet-rock, several rooms and a view of Lake Mjosa. Ellen sits knitting and she tells me that not every Norwegian woman knits, to which I reply "Yes, I suppose there are three who don't." 😊 For the first time the TV is on because Berger's nephew is featured on a musical quiz show. It seems there are books in every room and in many there are entire walls of bookshelves. Sleeping under a dina I got 10, hours of sleep last night and am well on my way to conquering jet lag. A walk downtown and back and helping move some tree trimmings did a bit to offset all the eating. Yes, it's a royal life.
Blessings,
Al
