Now I've read four of Anthony Trollope's Barchester Series books, two left. Framley Parsonage, introduces new characters though personages from previous books make cameo appearances. This is another delightful read and per usual a love story is a significant piece. Trollope's getting more droll with the names of characters; Creamclotted Hall, Heavybread House, Lord Dumbello, Mr. Green Walker, Lady Goodygaffer, Lord Brittalock, and attorneys Gumption and Gagbee return. Such nomenclature is indicative of his whimsical sense of humor.
The vicar falls prey to greed but is redeemed at a significant price. As in Doctor Thorne, much of the interest revolves around the question of love between peers and commoners. This seems a particular interest of Trollope and perhaps is indicative of the times...1850s. Questionable medical personal are called 'quacks' so that usage had been around a long time. Trollope's books may be a bit predictable but the mystery is how the conclusion will be reached.
It's clear in the reading why it's still being read after 170 years.
Takk for alt,
Al
