Now, to my western way of thinking, it seemed logical that I would be present. It would be the day that in my normal rotation that I'd teach 3rd and 4th grades. Almost always I do that as the lone adult in the room so there would be no reason I could not do that even if they were gone. Then the students would at least have teaching one hour during the day.
I didn't push the idea but kept the conversation going until I found the reason for me being excused. Aronsee and Ann are the only teachers who speak English. If I was there and needed something it would put some one in an awkward spot. The danger is that some one might loose face. Better not take that risk and just have me not come.
Because I wasn't teaching I used the morning to take some "I Spy" pictures for Noble students.
